Kinetic Particle Theory Chapter 2 Flashcards
What is kinetic particle theory?
The kinetic particle theory states that all matter is made up of tiny particles and these particles are in constant random motion.
What is sublimation ?
Sublimation is a process by which a solid changes directly into a gas.
What is Vapour depositing
Vapour deposition is when gas cools down and eventually become a solid.
What is the arrangement of a solid, a liquid and a gas?
Solid: very closely packed in an orderly manner.
Liquid: slightly less closely packed than a solid, irregular pattern
Gas: very far apart in a disorderly manner.
What are the particle movement for solids, liquids and gas?
Solids: vibrate and rotate upon their fixed shape.
Liquids: Slide pasts one another freely.
Gases: move quickly and randomly motion.
What are the forces of attraction in solids, liquids and gases?
Solids: very strong
Liquid: less strong
Gas: very weak
What are the kinetic energy of a particle of solids, liquid and gas?
Solids: very low
Liquids: low
Gas: very high
What is transition temperature?
It is melting, freezing and boiling point.
