Kinematics Flashcards
Difference Between Velocity and Speed
Speed: The rate at which an object moves from one place to another
Velocity: Describes the direction as well as the speed an object moves
The study of how things move
Kinematics
Motion of one object with respect to another
Relative Motion
Point of view from which movement is being observed
Frame of reference
Rate at which an object changes position; distance covered in a period of time
Speed
Speed and direction that an object is moving
Velocity
An arrow representing an object’s speed and direction
Vector
Length of the vector arrow
Magnitude
Rate at which an object’s velocity is increasing
Acceleration
Rate at which an object’s velocity is decreasing
Deceleration
