kidney Flashcards
where is urea made and by what process
liver by deamination
what is deamination
amnio acids into fats
what happens if ions are too low or too high
damages our cells
what does too much water in the body lead to
making cells swell and burst
what does not enough water lead to
causing your cells to srink and lose water
whats the job of the kidney (3)
remove urea
regulate ions and water
in filtration what do we reabsorb all some and none of
glucose
water and ions
urea
what detects water concentration
hypothalamus
what happens if there’s too little water
hypothalamus detects send signal to pituitary gland to release ADH into the bloodstream which tells the kidney to absorb more water meaning we have less urine
what happens if there’s too much water
hypothalamus stops sending signal to the pituitary gland leading to a decreases in ADH this mean the tubules wont reabsorb that much water meaning the kidney will produce more urine
