KI 2, Opt 2 Flashcards
What was Option 2?
Value Engineering the works.
Please elaborate further on what value engineering the works would involve? (running a VE workshop; amending ERs; agreeing costs; obtaining client approval)
Why did you think VEing the works might be a solution? What did you think could be VE’d? What alternatives did you think might be possible? How did you know these would be suitable alternatives and cost savings would be involved? Did the client specify levels of quality of works the project?
How did you liaise with the design team? What was discussed? What process did you go through with them? How did you come to the decision that only limited savings would likely be achieved through a ‘desktop evaluation’? What is a ‘desktop evaluation’? How would quality of materials and services be adversely impacted? Why did you think going back to the site was a possible approach? What would revisiting the site involve, duration, who involved? What VE did you think might be identified as a result of revisiting the site? What possible ‘less costly repair/maintenance possibilities’ did you think might be discovered?
Cost assessment -
- How did you know costs would be within budget?
-What increased professional fees would there be - did you estimate this?
Time assessment -
- How would the construction period be possibly reduced?
-What additional time would be required - did you estimate this?
Quality assessment -
- you state possible reduction in quality if savings cannot be achieved - how would this come about?
Risk assessment -
- you state no guarantee that savings could be achieved - what would you do then? (backup plan?)
Considerations ‘in the round’ -
- Why did you consider this option - did you think it was feasible?
- On what basis did you think this option was feasible?
