Accuracy
The accuracy of a measurement is how close a result comes to the true value
Precision
Precision is how consistent results are when measurements are repeated.
Repeatable results
A measurement is repeatable if the SAME person repeats the experiment using the same method and same equipment and it gives the same (or similar) results
Reproducible results
A measurement is reproducible if ANOTHER person (if the same person using a DIFFERENT equipment/method) can get the same results.
Anomalous results
Anomalous results don’t fit the pattern and should be ignored and not included in the mean.
Validity
Validity is how well a test measures what it is supposed to measure.
Representative data
If your sample is representative of the entire population you are trying to generalise your results for … you will be able to confidently generalise the results of your study.
