An abstract concept that exists within our conscious- the place where living things think
Scientific
Unbiased opinion based on facts that involves a specific procedure
Aim
The purpose of the study. It should indicate what mental processes or behaviors should be studied
Procedure
A detailed step by step guide to how the study will be undertaken
Findings
How the researcher is interpreting the data collected
Target population
The group of people that are being studies (i.e. cultural background, gender, occupation, age or combinations, etc.)
Inter-rater reliability
do all people who recorded the data agree?
Test re-test reliability
If the experiment is repeated. will the experiment/study get the same results?
Internal validity
is the study what it claims to be studying?
External validity
can the results be applied to the greater population?
Ecological reliability
can the results be applied to the ‘real world’?

participants know the purpose of the experiment and change their behavior to give incorrect results
