Key Terms Flashcards
Abiotic and Biotic Factors
Abiotic means non-living and Biotic means living
Biomass pyramids
Biomass Pyramids are used to graph energy transfered between organizms
Ecological Balance
Ecological balance is a state of balnce in the community of organizms in an ecosystem.
Biomass
The measurment of energy
Ecosystems
An ecosystem is biological community of interacting orginizms in an enviroment.
Ecological Succession
Ecological Succession is the process of a mix of species and habitat in an area changing over time. There are two types of succession. Primary and Secondary.
Invasive Species
An invasive species is a non-native species who invades and causes harm to another organizm.
Carrying Capacity
Carrying Capacity is the maximum population of orginizms an ecosystem can support based on the food, water, and resources available.
Primary Ecological Succession
Occurs when living organizms move into a new area that was currently barren and unhabitited
Secondary Ecological Succession
Occurs when an area that is previously occupied is occupied by a new species.
Endangered Species
Any type of plant or animal that are in danger of disapearing forever.
Biodiversity
the veriety of life in a habitat and ecosystem.
