Culture
Common rules regulate interactions and behaviors in a group, as well as shared values and attitudes in the group. Such rules create a sense of safety and belonging.
Culture complexity
Customs, traditions, practice, hybrid combination, 2 or more blended over time, “ normal”/ not separate
Example: In the airport in Bangkok the number 13 is not in the baggage claim section even though it is a belief in American culture and not Thai culture
Cultural complexity involves a custom, tradition, or practice in a culture that is a hybrid (combination) of two or more separate cultural traditions. These traditions have been blended together over time. It has been blended so much that to a local, it is considered “normal” and not seen as two separate and possibly contradictory traditions, but to a foreigner it appears to be a contradiction and creates confusion.
Cultural diffusion
SPREADING OF CULTURES such as beliefs, values, and social activities from a central point
Cultural globalization
Cultural globalization is the most visible and directly experienced form of globalization for hundreds of millions of people today, it refers to the flow of information, people, cultural practices, tastes, and style across the world.
Globalisation
A term used to describe how TRADE and TECHNOLOGY have made the world into a MORE CONNECTED and INTERDEPENDENT place
Example: Walmart has its manufacturing facilities in China but Walmart is an American brand
Ethnocentrism
The BELIEF or BIAS that PEOPLE, CUSTOMS, TRADITIONS, and CULTURE OF YOUR OWN RACE OR NATION
EVAULAING OTHER CULTURES Judge others based on their food preferences.
Judge others based on their clothing styles.
Judging others based on their language (often assuming English is, or should be, the default).
