May make a certain group feel scared if aggression is targeted towards them

In serious rivalries and derbys in sport football hooligan violence can result in death and life changing injuries, such as an injury to a Man U fan after he was stabbed by a West Ham fan
Why does prejudice occur?
RCT would say due to competition for scarce resources
However, SIT would say due to merely the presence on an in group and an out group
How can prejudice be reduced
SIT would say that trying to breakdown in group and out group barriers to create one big in group e.g Palestinian and Israeli youth choirs
However, more practical is RCT superordinate goals, however, still difficult to implement
Definition of prejudice and what can it lead to
Pre judging someone based on characteristics about them such as age gender religion and it is a hostile learned attitude
Discrimination is the physical form of prejudice
