Q

what are the four ao1 points

A

what is alzhiemers-
alzhimers is a degenrative disorder that affects memeory recall of long term and episodic memory. paitents find ltm memory recall hard eading them to not be able to look after themselves
memory buses can be used to sitmulate episodic memory and recall in paitents. paitents travell on a bus from a specific time period from when they grew up. everyone on the bus is dressed from that time e.g 1920 and music from that time is playing. this is in hope of aidding recall of ltm
anouther way alzhimers can be treated is with cognative stimulation. paitents will lokk at pictures of family and past experiances to aid recall and will be asked to recount memorys. they will also do puzzles and games to stimulate cognition
anouther way alzhimers is treated is through validation therapy. for example a gated community , hodgeway, allows paitents to live the life they belive they have and be given small tasks and are validated for their belifes while being monitered by doctors and staff members acting as normal citizens

Q

explain yourkey question =

A

memory is the process of taking information from the enviroment processsin and understanding it to later recall it.

the brain works like a computer input processing output
episodic memory is the mental diary and has spatial referancing. it is based of past experiances and surrounding senses that create this memory

ltm and stm are two seperate stores in msmm and it is thoerised that their nedds to be rehersal and retreaval between the two stores or their will be decay of information

schemas are based on previous experiances or prior knowladge to fill in gaps in memory. the use of schemas and past experiances can often distort recall.
