it is important in tackling crime, tax payers money is being wasted investing in the rehabilitation of criminals which is nature is the cause of criminality social treatment would not be efficient. treatment would need to be adapted to biological.
How is the key question likely to directly affect individuals in today’s society?
punishment for crimes could be unfair because somebodies biological makeup is beyond their control so drug treatments should be considered to alter NT levels in the brain.
How is the key question likely to affect society as a whole?
the justice system would be completely changed. it would lead to scapegoating and people would not serve time for the crimes that they commit. but could reduce crimes due to early intervention techniques.
Are there any relevant examples which could help show knowledge of the key question?
Charles Whitman had a tumour pressed against his amygdala, he killed his mom, his wife and 3 other people as well as 31 wounded before killing himself. in his suicide note he wrote that he had felt changes in his personality and urges of aggression.
