Abraham Lincoln
He was the leader of the Union (the North) and wanted to abolish slavery. When the Union won the American Civil War, he became the president of the USA and freed slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. He was later assassinated.
Martin Luther King
He was African-American minister and activist. He was one of the main figures in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination on April 4th 1968. He said the famous speech ‘I have a Dream’

Was a black woman that refused to give up her seat to a black man, and was later fined and arrested for this. This was the start of the Montgomery Bus Boycott

was a white supremacist and politician in Birmingham, Alabama. He enforced and legalised segregation and denied black people their rights.
George Floyd
An unarmed black man who was killed in 2020 when Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin leant on his neck, suffocating him to death. His death rekindled the Black Lives Matter movement
Ahmaud Arbery
An unarmed black man who was shot and killed on February 23, 2020 while jogging. It was a racially motivate dhate crime
