Key differences between COPD and Asthma Flashcards
Name the difference in COPD and asthma
COPD- irreversible obstruction, progressive, typically caused by smoking , poor bronchodilator response, low gas transfer in emphysema
Asthma- resversible obstruction, intermittent , typically triggered by allergens, strong bronchodilator response, normal gas transfer
Name the difference in COPD and asthma in regards to inflam
COPD- inflam cells such as neurophils, machrophages, CD8+ T lymphocytes
Asthma- inflam cells such as eosinophils, mast cells and CD4+ T lymphocytes
Name the difference in COPD and asthma in regards to airways
COPD- airflow limitation is NOT fully reversible
Asthma- airflow limitation may be fully reversible, either spontaneous or due to treatment
