National Tours. The company were beginning to be asked to perform on tour but had to decline due to financial struggles.
1962
AAADT are chosen to go on an extensive tour of South Asia and Australia as part of JFK’s ‘President’s international programme’. As a result, AAADT became the cultural ambassadors of the USA to the world.
1963
Tour of Rio de Janeiro as part of the international arts festival.
Performed in Chicago a program entitled “my people: First Negro Centennial” which was a collaboration with Talley Beatty and Duke Ellington
1966
AAADT takes part in first Negro Arts Festival in Dakar-Senegal
1967
AAADT embarks on a ten-country African Tour for 2 1/2 months
1968
AAADT perform at the White House for president Jonson
1970
Second State Deportment which was a sponsored tour of North Africa and Europe
A six week tour of USSR

2-3 month tours became a commonplace
1974
Ailey II had their first full touring schedule showing the development of the company.
1977
AAADT perform at Jimmy Carter inaugural gala
1983
Judith Jamison guest appears on The Cosby Show
1985
AAADT becomes the first modern dance company to go on a U.S. government sponsored tour if China
1993
AAADT perform at the televised inaugural gala for President Bill Clinton. This was viewed by 80 million viewers and was featured on the Phil Donahue Show reaching 18 million viewers. This created a lot of publicity and exposure leading to more money.
1995
Jamison and company feature in successful American Express ad campaign.
1996
AAADT perform at the Olympic Arts Festival in Atlanta GA
