key concepts ++ plants and animal cells Flashcards
1
Q
name 3 things you can find in a plant cell and not an animal cell
A
- vacuole (contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts)
- chloroplast (where photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant + contain chlorophyll, which absorbs the light for photosynthesis)
- cell wall (supports cell + strengthens it)
2
Q
function of the nucleus
A
contains genetic material that controls the activities of the cell
3
Q
function of cytoplasm
A
gel-like substance where most of the chemical reactions happens. it has enzymes which control these reactions
4
Q
function of cell membrane
A
holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
5
Q
function of mitochondria
A
where aerobic respiration takes place. respiration transfers energy that the cell needs to work
6
Q
function of ribosomes
A
these are where proteins are made in the cell
