What is the difference between constituional and absolute monarchy?
Constitutal they have a set of laws they must abide by and absolute does not
Why did the charlottetown conference happen, and when and where did it happen?
Happened because of the US civil war.. lead to wanting a unified country.. Happened in 1864 in PEI
What did the charlottetown do?
Reached 72 resolutions and guaranteed federalism (50 resolutions were made by sir John A mcdonald)
What is federalism?
Involves a federal budget, military, immgration and postal services.
What is the quebec resolution?
It was just the second half of creating the resolutions

It was based of the 72 resolutions.. happened in 1867, and PEI pulled out
What did the british north american act acheive and restrict?
It gave canada more autonomy and was technically a self governing colony within the bristish empire but could not make foregin policies.

WWI promoted feelings of nationalism, did not wanna be involved with the british empire

It got rid of all british influence but gave britain the ability to change the canadian constitution this happened in 1931

He was a minister in foreign affairs and later became prime minister
Why was lester B pearson so important?
He did not have a majority coalition but still got things done and intervened in the suez canal, he kept canada out of the vietnam war, helped build the medical plan and our flag

A canal in egypt which was run by britain and france but eygpt took over and lester b pearson proposed to have the UN intervene and stay present in the canal to ensure peace

That quebec be a soverign state separate to canada but sharing economic/political partnerships

Propose bills and have 338 members
What is the role of the senate and what is weird about them?
The leader chooses the senate people, and have similar powers to house of commons and can technically reject and propose bills but they don’t because they are unpopular therefore keep a low profile to survive
