A

Boosted South Korea economy by intervening in the economy.. he is an example of a success through a developmental state. To keep businesses in line he would reduce subsidies after the intial sum of money, allocate resources and put business men who were not compliant in prison.

A

Protectionalism is the state intervening into the economy, to protect their own industries

What are tarriffs and subsidies?

A

Tariffs are taxes implemented on imported goods for the purpose of protecting local industries. Subsidies is a sum of money that is given to a business by the state to balance the cost of an item to help the business/industry.

What is competitive authoritarianism?

A

Is a hybrid between democracy and authoritarinism. Meaning that on paper it may be listed as a demoncracy but is not. The reason being is that media coverage may be tainted by the state if they do not agree with the media that is being shown, the right to run is limited.. and Jerry mandering may occur.

What is the difference between direct and representative democracy?

A

Direct means that people make real political decisions like voting on laws and representative means that people vote for politicians who then vote on those laws opposed to them

What is the difference of between presidential and parliamentary system?

A

The difference between the two are that a presential system “US” the people vote for both leglistature and president whereas parliamentary “canada” the people will vote for the legistlature and then those people elect a federal leader.

What is Jerry Mandering?

A

It is the manipulation of the electoral map so that it is in favor of a certain party.

How does the leglistature work in a competitive authoritarian state?

A

The actual congress has little power and the judiciary also has little power or often is it packed with people who are in favor of the leader.
