Why is infant attachment important?
It lags the foundation for future stable relationships. It can be secure, insecure or there can be detachment.
Why do human offspring have a long period of dependency on adults?
Provides time for socialisation and learning to occur
What can insecure attachment lead to?
Responses of anger or inconsistent responses.
What does authoritative control by carers result in?
Greater social competence in offspring than permissive control.
What is important in the formation of relationships between individuals?
Non verbal communication. It can signal attitude and emotion as well as acting as an aid to verbal communication.
What is verbal communication?
Used in the transmission of knowledge, development of culture and in social evolution.
What is learning?
A change in behaviour as a result of experience
