federalist beliefs
They believed in Alexander Hamilton, the fact that the government is a force for good, a loose interpretation of the Constitution, and a National Bank. They also believed that the wealthy and well educated should lead the nation, they favored a strong central government, emphasized manufacturing, shipping, and trade, they were pro-British, and favored the protective tariff.
Anti-federalist beliefs
Anti-Federalists believed in Thomas Jefferson, a small government, state’s rights, local banks, and lower taxes. They also believed in the fact that people should have political power, strong state governments, emphasized agriculture, favored a strict interpretation of Constitution, were Pro-French, and opposed the protective tariff.

Edmund Randolph and James Madison called for a government with 3 branches of government, a legislative to pass laws, an executive to carry out the laws and a judical branch to decide if the laws are carried outo correctly. The legislature would have 2 houses where seats were given out based on population.

The Cabinet is a group of people chosen by the president to help him in his term. Some positions are: the Secretary of State, the Secretary of War, and the Attorney General
french revolution of 1793
US stay out because they could lose too much since they traded with both of them. The French and the British then started kidnapping the U.S. sailors on the trading vessels, so they could use the sailors as ransom for money. The British and the Americans then made Jay’s Treaty in 1794 to stop the kidnapping and get the British out of Michigan. The British were not happy because Michigan controlled all the trade on the Great Lakes. The French then declared war on the US.
arguments for and against the bill of rights
the colonists wanted to protect their freedoms after just fighting for them, Federalists said that it was impossible to make a list of all the rights and that the constitution protected their rights enough.
articles of confederation weaknesses
there were disputes about land that you couldn’t resolve, and other nations took advantage of US ( Britain wouldn’t leave Ohio Valley).
3/5 compromise
Each slave would count as 3/5 . So in voting 1 slave would = 3/5 of a guy, so didn’t offset lower house,
whiskey rebellion of 1791
farmers upset about tax on whiskey. Organized rebellion. GW and troops came out and stopped rebellion. US made it clear that it would not tolerate people breaking laws of Constitution. only time president went out into battle.
shay’s rebellion
about a farmer named Daniel Shays, who lived in Boston. In Boston the crop season was not very high. Farmers had to pay rising taxes. They later rebelled and this was called Shays Rebellion. It occurred because the Massachusetts government was taking away the land of the farmers who coudn’t pay their taxes/loans. showed that the Articles of Confederation were not strong enough and the U.S. government needed to revise it. George Washington as first president.
George Washington had many events in his first and second term such as threats from the 19th century, an industrial revolution, the French Revolution, Whiskey Rebellion and the San Lorenzo Treaty. He was a very influencing president when setting precedents such as 8 year term maximum and a self-chosen Cabinet.
BOTUS
most important part of Hamilton’s Plan, Hamilton wanted to keep money in 1 bank for economic purposes, but southern states disliked the idea. States and people had to pay money for Gov to spend and people didn’t like.
