Have everyone introduced themselves by name and role,
What are the ASA grades for
Assessing sickness or physical state before giving anaesthetic
What do the ASA grades mean individually
ASA1: Healthy
ASA2: Mild systematic disease, no functional limits
ASA3: Severe systematic disease, functional limit but no
ASA4: Severe systematic threat to life
ASA5: Moribund, not expected to last 24hrs
WHat happens in time out
Patient details confirmed, surgeon anticipates blood loss, unexpected bits, or equipment
Anaesthetist gives any concerns, asa grade, and says what monitoring equipment is needed
Nurse confirms sterility and equipment issues
SSI bundle confirmed done
What happens in sign out
before anyone leaves the room:
