What is Kawasaki disease?
A
A type of vasculitis which is predominantly seen in children

State 5 features of Kawasaki disease
A
- High-grade fever, lasting for > 5 days and resistant to antipyretics
- Conjunctival injection
- Bright red, cracked lips
- Strawberry tongue
- Cervical lymphadenopathy
- Red palms of the hands and soles of the feel (these later peel)

What is the diagnostic test for Kawasaki disease?

There is none; the diagnosis is made clinically

What 3 steps are involved in management?
A
- High dose aspirin
- IV Ig
- Echocardiogram: initial screening test for coronary artery aneurysms
