Invagination of one portion of bowel into the lumen of the adjacent bowl, commonly occurring at the ileo-caecal region

A
- Paroxysmal abdominal colic pain
- During colic, the child will usually draw their knees up and turn pale
- Vomiting
- Blood stained stool (LATE SIGN)
- Sausage-shaped mass in the RUQ

What is the investigation of choice and what sign would indicate the presence of intussusception?
A
USS; may reveal a target-like mass

A
Air insufflation under radiological control

A
- If air insufflation fails
