- rural-urban migration, people seek education + employment
- Natural increase, there is a huge unmet need for contraception + as a result, women tend to have around 6 children

- drop out rate is high in schools as children cannot afford materials
- many people work in informal sector=unreliable pay
- high youth unemployment
- traffic congestion=air pollution
- power for cooking mainly comes from charcoal burners=pollution
- waste disposal

A
-ACTogether, an NGO charity worked w local people to map Kampalas slums so they can improve sanitation + waste disposal

A
- 170km of new roads have been constructed
- proposed an intergrated transport system which sees the Kampala bus rapid transport network connected to cable cars + non-motorised transport
