What is this?
How does it present?
What are its associated symptoms?
What condition is it importantly associated with?
N.B. Most common cause of chronic joint pain in children
➊ Autoimmune inflammation of joints lasting 6+ weeks in a pt < 16 yrs w/o any other cause
➋ Joint pain, Swelling and Stiffness
➌ Salmon-coloured pink rash, Vision loss
➍ Chronic Anterior Uveitis
What are its subtypes?
• Systemic JIA (Still’s disease) - Salmon-coloured pink rash
• Polyarticular JIA – Inflammation in 5+ joints
• Oligoarticular – Single joint, Anterior uveitis
• Enthesitis-related arthritis – Inflammation at point of muscle insertion
• Juvenile psoriatic arthritis - Psoriasis
How is it managed?
• Paediatric rheumatology, with MDT
• NSAIDs, Steroids, DMARDs, Biologics
