The freedom of the judiciary from interference or direct external control, particularly by other branches of government
Why is judicial indepedence important
Judicial independence is essential so that judges may apply the law fairly to each person and would not allow for corruption, this gives the public confidence in the judiciary

The executive supports the judiciary so that they can continue their independent functioning through funding and resourcing from executive

Judicial independence in Saudi Arabia is effected by executive’s funding and budgeting. Reducing the budget given shows disapproval from the executive to the judiciary, forcing judiciary to make decisions in court that adhere to House of Saud’s regime
EXAMPLE OF EXECUTIVE INTERFING
The executive in Saudi Arabia has intervened in matters of the judiciary when in 2018, a multitude of activists were arrested and tried in specialised criminal courts, meaning an unfair judiciary having no real independence.
Constitution helping judicial independence
The Constitution of Australia provides the basic rules for their government to operate including judicial independence. This is very important to judicial independence because it is legally binding. Meaning a greater level of judicial independence in Australia and than Saudi Arabia
