What is Shabbat?
The Jewish holy day and it’s from sunset on Friday until sunset on Saturday every week
What happens on Shabbat in the synagogue?
Every Friday evening, there is a prayer service in a synagogue
Torah scrolls, and then paraded around the synagogue, giving people opportunity to become close to God’s word
What happens at Shabbat in home?
Find meals every Friday night have wine and two loaves of challah bread are on the table
A female of the family members lights two candle is before Sunset.
She welcomes in Shabbat by waving her arms around the candle and close her eyes to say a blessing and prayer.

Intense seven days of morning from the burial
They don’t work and they stay at home say prayers three times a day

Mirrors are covered so as not to focus on appearance
What happens 30 days after death?
Normal life resumes, but still no listening to music, going to parties, shaving or cutting hair
What did children do after the death of a parent?
For 11 months they do not attend parties and they say blessing for a parent.
What happens at the funeral?
The body is washed and wrapped in cloth and a tallit
Placed in a simple coffin to show everyone is equal in death.
After service, everyone washes their hand to show they are leaving death behind
What does kosher mean?
Food that you are allowed to eat
What does trefah mean?
Foods that Jews are not allowed to eat

It is an eight-day festival to celebrate the Jewish escape from slavery in Egypt
The most important preparation is to remove yeast from the home

Different foods, symbolise an aspect of the struggle of these rights in Egypt

Remind use the four times God promise freedom to the Israelites

Reminds Jews of the sweat and tears of the slaves

They symbolise the bitter suffering of the slaves in Egypt

The sweet taste symbolizes freedom
