What did Abraham do?
He made a covenant with God to be faithful, in return he would become a father of many.
Where did Abraham travel to?
Canaan later known as The Promised Land
How was Abraham prepared to show his loyalty to God?
He tried to sacrifice his only son Isaac
What were Abraham’s people known as?
Israelites, they suffered greatly over lots of years and were slaves to the Egyptians
Who was Moses?
He was a shepherd who saw a burning bush that wasn’t actually on fire. God talked to him that day and told him to help the suffering Jewish people.
What did Moses do after seeing the burning bush?
He went to see the Egyptian leader, the pharaoh. The refused to set the Jewish people free so God sent 10 plagues onto Egyot.
What was the last plague?
An angel of death passed over each house in Egypt, killing the first-born son.
What did the Jews do to avoid the last plague?
They sacrificed a lamb and rubbed its’ blood on their front doors so the angel would pass them
What happened after the last plague?
The pharaoh agreed to let the Jews and then sent his army after them. However when the Jews reached the Red Sea, God parted the Sea and they went through. This event is known as Exodus.
What is the Torah?
God gave Moses the Torah, which means ‘teaching’. It gave details about how God wanted his people to live.
What are the 10 Commandments?
It’s the Jewish people’s moral code. The 2nd covenant God made with his chosen people, the Jews. They were to follow these commandments and remain faithful to him.
What is a prophet?
They are a person called by God to receive an important message and preach it to the people. As time passed the people begin to forget their covenant with God, so God sent prophets to help them. Jeremiah and Isaiah are 2 examples of prophets.
