Who was Christianity founded by?
Jesus Christ, the son of Mary and Joseph
Tell me about Jesus.
He was born in Bethleham and he is the Son of God. He grew up in Nazareth in the province of Galilee that was run by Romans. He went to teach his teaching across Palestine where he discovered his 12 apostles. After coming into conflict with different groups, he was crucified.
When did Christianity begin?
Palestine 33 CE
What is the Kingdom of God?
It’s a way of living based on Jesus’ message of truth, justice, peace and love.
What the Crucifixion?
Jesus died on the cross so that those who believe in him will be forgiven their sins.
What is the Resurrection?
Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to witnesses. Christians believe that this shows God’s power over life and death.
What is the Ascension?
40 days after his resurrection, Jesus was taken up to heaven - body and soul.
What The Holy Spirit?
Jesus promised that he would stay with followers, so after he went to heaven he sent the Holy Spirit to guide them.
What is a baptism?
It’s a ceremony performed by most Christians churches. Water is used as a symbol to show a person has become follower of Christ.
What is the Eucharist?
A thanksgiving meal of bread and wine, which is celebrated by Christians. It remembers the Last Supper Jesus had with his apostles.
What is the Bible?
It’s a sacred text or book that Christians believe is the word of God, written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
What are the Beatitudes?
It’s a moral code given to Christians by Jesus so they can follow the Kingdom of God.
What are the messages of the Beatitudes?
People should love God and their neighbour as they love themselves. They need to be prayerful gentle and repent when they do wrong. They need to be fair to everyone and forgive those who do wrong to them. They must try to be respectful, peaceful and have integrity.
