Q

Q1: A 19-year-old student was treated for asymptomatic chlamydia with doxycycline. According to BASHH, how long after treatment should young patients under 25 be offered a repeat test?

A. 14 days
B. Six weeks
C. Three months
D. No repeat test
E. One month

A

Answer: C. Three months

Repeat testing is not the same as test-of-cure. NCSP recommends a repeat test 3 months post-treatment for under-25s. Reinfection risk is 2–6 times higher and repeated infection increases risk of PID and infertility.
