Steps to examine a joint
Inspection - what do you see (symmetry, swelling, ecchymosis, abrasions, DCAPBTLS)
Palpation - what do you feel (tenderness, edema, hot/cold, in one area or all over?)
ROM - active vs passive
Neuro - strength and sensation
Vascular - pulses and cap refil
What is the painful arc test
Tests for subacromial impingement and rotator cuff tendon injury
Positive sign is shoulder pain from 60 - 120 abduction
