Joint Air Support Flashcards
SOB: Identify the two types of air support requests.
Preplanned and Immediate.
SOB: Describe the flow of both preplanned and immediate air support requests.
-Preplanned requests are planned and submitted through Service/component channels to the JAOC
-Immediate are requests submitted after the ATO is published. Immediate ASR’s will normally be prosecuted by the combat operations division in the JAOC, or by the Air Support Operations Center (ASOC) or Direct Air Support Center (DASC).
SOB: Identify the purpose of the AIRSUPREQ message.
The AIRSUPREQ is used to request preplanned and immediate CAS, interdiction, reconnaissance, surveillance, escort, helicopter-airlift, and other aircraft missions.
SOB: Identify the proper flow of the AIRSUPREQ message
The AIRSUPREQ message is usually transmitted to the JFACC; but it can also be sent to a supporting air-capable component.
SOB: Identify the purpose of the ALLOREQ message.
The ALLOREQ message is used to provide the JFACC and Joint Force Commander (JFC) an estimate of the total air effort, to identify any excess aircraft, sorties, and to identify unfilled air requirements.
SOB: Identify the proper flow of the ALLOREQ message.
The ALLOREQ message is transmitted from the air-capable components to the JFACC.
SOB: Identify the characteristics of scheduled and on-call missions.
-Scheduled missions are in the ATO with a scheduled mission time, assigned target or contact point, have a hard target location, and have target specific ordnance load.
-On-call missions are in the ATO as ground - or airborne - alert, have an alert time frame, no hard launch time, no contact point, no rendezvous point, target time, or locations. They also have a flexible ordnance load for a variety of missions.
SOB: Identify the relationship between the two types of air support requests and the two types of missions.
-Preplanned requests may result in scheduled missions or on-call missions. Preplanned requests result in missions on the ATO.
-Immediate requests are normally filled using on-call missions, but may be filled using scheduled missions if the priority is high enough.
