Hard Soldering

A

Hard solders , sometimes called ‘silver solders’, are a range of solders that have different melting points, enabling complex assemblies to be completed in steel, copper or brass.

Q

MIG Welding (Metal Inert Gas)

A

A process whereby force is applied to surfaces in contact and in which the heat for welding is produced by the passage of electric current through the electrical resistance at, and adjacent to, these surfaces.

Q

TIG Welding (Tungsten Inert Gas)

A

A form of electric arc welding using a tungsten electrode, the arc from which is surrounded by an inert gas such as argon, to prevent oxidisation during welding. Aluminium and stainless steel are welded in this way

Heat source

A

Any piece of equipment that applies heat in an appropriate manner for the purposes of joining materials. e.g. oxi-acetylene equipment is used as a heat source for gas welding and brazing
