Q

How is the heat for tig and mig welding generated

A

Gases are mixed which can produce 3500 degrees which meets the two surfaces. In MIG welding a continuous wire electrode is fed through the torch. In TIG welding, non– consumable electrodes generate heat which then requires a separate rod to form the joint

Q

Why is a shield gas used and what is a common gas

A

Q

Why can’t metal that has been painted be welded

A

Because paint is an insulator so it forms a seal which would wreck the weld and welding only works if it has a clean surface
