Who was John Blanke?
A
He was a black musician and could play the trumpet, he played for Henry VIII and other members of the royal family.

Why was John worried?
A
He was worried how the artist would depict his darker skin tone as it was not a pigment they would usually use. In fact it was probably the first time a black Tudor was painted.

A
At first 8p a day later to 16p, he was very respected.

A
He played at Henry’s funeral and the birth of his son, this shows that there was a form of equality.
