employment is often insure with most residnece only be able to provide unskilled casual labour. many familys own family run business that require very little start up capital and have the ability to run from home.
some are employed in factories however there is very little protection around thease with few health and safety precautions
health
health is a major concern, sanitation hardly exists, toilets in the slum, they are shared and flush out into open sewers in the street
water is polluted and the slum was orginaly built on a former waste tip.
epidemics of water bourn disease such as typhiod and cholra are common

pollution
air pollution are at very high levels due to the use of kerosene from cooking, this poses health risks
nutrition
nutrition is poor, most consumption is rice with little protein or fresh fruit and vegtabels
eductaion
schools are poorly equipped, families cannot allow their children to complete formal qualifications as they need to earn money to supplement family income.
garment industry is a major source of unemployment or many young females
housing conditions
one of the most densely populated areas in indonesia, often houses have had extra storys added to them making their structure weak
fire is a constant risk due to overcrowding and the use of kerosene and improved elecrtic wires ect, most of wich suffer from overloading
