Q

What is the first step in taking a jaw registration?

A

Make a dot for a reference point on the nose and the chin, then record the distance between them when teeth are in ICP (OVD - occlusal vertical dimension) then do the same but with the jaw relaxed (RVD-resting vertical dimension)

Then RVD - OVD = free way space

Q

How should you proceed after the nose - chin distance is recorded?

A

Try each wax record block in alone, and make adjustments to it with a hot palate knife so that the occlusal plane is correct and also the buccal contours

Occlusal plane should follow Ala-Tragus line

Q

How do we now take the jaw registration once we know both record blocks fit?

A

Cut notches in each block then insert them both.

Squirt impression medium onto the blocks in order for them to stick together and get the registration
