What is obstetric cholestasis?

A

1% of pregnancies, 3rd trimester

Presentation:
Jaundice, Pruritus, no rash, raised bilirubin

Management:
Ursodeoxycholic acid for symptoms
Weekly LFT
induction at 37wks due to increased rate of still birth

What is acute fatty liver of pregnancy?

A

Rare complications of pregnancy, 3rd trimester or just following delivery

Presentation:
Abdo pain, N+V, jaundice, hypoglycaemia, possible preeclampsia
ALT raised

Managed: supportive and once stabilised, deliver
