Japan had a series of 4,000 mountainous islands (archipelago) and was surrounded by water.
Achievements of the Ming Dynasty
To show how powerful China became. They distributed gold, silver, and scented oils. Gunpowder was developed as well as compass for navigation. Porcelain (FINE CHINA) also became world famous.
Importance of the Magna Carta
Nobles forced King John to sign the Magna Carta to limit his rights which led to the Parliament.
Similarities between Japanese & European feudalism
Europe and Japan had class systems. Nobles were at the top warriors followed, and then farmers and serfs.
Code of Bushido
Thought of “the way of the warrior” . Samurais are supposed to act humble, brave, honorable, come second, have pride and dignity, and act intelligent and obedient.
Filial piety
The generalization made by Confucius that respect for parents was above all other duties.
Influence on Russia
Russia was isolated from other countries of Western Europe and didn’t learn about other ideas or inventions. They still had serfdoms afterwards.
Importance of Genghis Khan
Wanted to bring new clans together to lead in conquests with Temujin. New technology was introduced such as the stirrup and tricks such as using dummies to make armies look bigger.

Mongol Peace (1200s - 1300s) which established stability and order throughout their empire and growth of trade and cultural diffusion because of the Silk Road.
Importance of Marco Polo
Italian merchant who traveled to the court of Kublai Khan. He introduced Europeans to China.
