2005-2019 :11 floods/year on average,55 districts were affected annually on average
Flood prones:Chennai,dibrugarh,dhemaji,golaghat,west godavari

Post 2005 :28 districts affected annually on avg.
cyclone prones:puri,chennai,nellore,north 24 parganas,ganjam,cuttak,east godavari,srikakulam

Since 2000:sharp increase in no. of drought hit districts

Worst hit:Anantpur,Bijapur,chittor,chikkaballapur,gulbarga,Hassan

Number of flood prone districts that started experiencing droughts was higher than those that did opposite.

Flood to drought shift was most prevelent in southern states.
