Jack is represented as a leader- stuck up and privileged- the leader of a choir.
‘frustrated now, and turning or ready to turn, to anger’
displays early signa of jacks angriness and violence.
Foreshadows later events of his savagery.

Jack is excited at the prospect of rules.This later changes as he ignores all rules.
sense of maturity and adulthood.
‘after all we are not savages’
At the beginning jack has a sense of humanity.
Later on he and the boys turn into savages.
MIDDLE
Jack in the middle splits off from Ralph and his anger and violence starts to show through more. Picks on people weaker than himself. It shows he is slowly turning into a savage.
‘bollocks to the rules’
Shows jack has lost his excitement and respect for rules.
‘i cut the pigs throat’ said jack proudly and yet twitched as he said it’
still shows he has bit of humanity and rules left
He is not comfortable.
