Chianti DOCG Requirements
Grapes can be from anywhere within Chianti region
Min 70% Sangiovese, no more than 10% max Malvasia (or other white grape)
Min 10% ABV
Can include a subzone notation

Rufina, Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colline Pisane, Montalbano, Montespertoli

Chianti Classico Requirements
Must be from Chianti Classico DOCG
Must be 80-100% Sangiovese (remaining 20% must be approved variety)
Vinification, storage, aging must take place within DOCG
Cannot be released before Oct 30th, year after harvest
Min 12% ABV
Chianti Classico Annata Requirements
Must be from Chianti Classico DOCG
Must be 80-100% Sangiovese (remaining 20% must be approved variety)
Vinification, storage, aging must take place within DOCG
Min 12 mos aging starting January 1st, year after harvest
Min 12% ABV
Chianti Classico Riserva Requirements
Must be from Chianti Classico DOCG
Must be 80-100% Sangiovese (remaining 20% must be approved variety)
Vinification, storge, aging must take place within DOCG
Min 24 mos aging starting January 1st, year after harvest; at least 3 mos bottle fining
Min 12.5% ABV
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Requirements
Must be from Chianti Classico DOCG
Must be 80-100% Sangiovese (remaining 20% must be approved variety)
Vinification, storge, aging must take place within DOCG
Must be estate-grown grapes
Min 30 mos aging starting January 1st, year after harvest; at least 3 mos bottle fining
Min 13% ABV
