The events of the Medieval period that prompted the explosion of the Italian Renaissance were the survivors of the black plague who wanted to celebrate. As a way of expressing these feelings they turned to art, literature, and the classics of Greece and Rome. Trad was picking up so there was a lot of exchange of cultures, spices, and ideas. One idea that took off was humanism and that you can live a lavish life without offending God. All these events prompted the artistic explosion that Italy experienced. Italy was the birthplace of the Renaissance because it was the first place the black plague died out in and it was seen as a way to trade with the rest of Europe. Italy was in the middle of everything.
