Bits
a binary language that the computer can understand; consists of two digits - 0 and 1.
Bytes
8 Bits combined make one Byte - large combinations of Bytes are called ; kilobytes, megabyte,gigabyte etc
Mainframe
many users and programs simultaneously
Super Computer
rapid complex calculations, executes a few programs at a rapid pace
Embedded Computer
Self Contained, has its own programming, the chip of the device is in another device ie- drone or a thermostat
Input devices
allows you to enter data and instruction into your computer. ie keyboard mouse mic camera etc
Output devices
sends data out of the computer in the form of ; Text, pictures, sounds, vide0 ie printers, monitors, speakers/headphones

LCD, LED, OLED
Types of printers
Inkjet, laser, all in one, plotter, thermal
Motherboard
located inside the system unit, contains the central electronic components of the computer,,, inc the computer processor CPU
RAM
Random Access Memory- Stores instructions and data, Volatile storage
Volatile storage
temporary storage- erases data when computer is turned off
nonvolatile
permanent storage- keeps data when computer is turned off
ROM
read-only memory- stores startup instructions, non volatile storage
Central processing unit
Brains of the Computer, controls all the functions, billions of tasks/second
Solid State Drives
Ssd- no moving parts, no noise, power efficient
