Found in the top left corners of the page; holds objects
Table
where all the data is stored in your database; foundation of each data base
field
intersection of columns and rows
record
a complete set of all the fields of one person, place, concept or event
primary key
a key in which uniquely identifies each record on a table
query
a question asked about the information in the database
form
simplified entry and modification of data
report
professional looking formatted information from underlying forms of queries
macro
stored series of commands that carry out actions. used to automate tasks
Datasheet view
where you enter information. grid containing c&r
Design view
to add fields to enter information as well as modify the tables design by specifying information entered in fields
field property
defines the characteristics of a field in more detail
relationship
connection b/w 2 tables with a common field
Back up Database
creates a duplicate copy of the entire data base to protect from loss or damage
filter
allows you to specify conditions to display only records meeting the conditions
selection filter
allows one specified criterion to only show one with no other variations of it (ie =eric would show only =eric)
Filter by form
more versatile method of selecting data because it allows you to display records based on multiple criteria
sort
Alphabetically- ascending or descending order
template
predefined database that is professionally designed
custom web app
allows you to create a database that can be shared on the web
