Issues of power Flashcards
Hardill et al
Carried out research into decision making in 30 middle class couples. They found that women tend to look at their male partners when making decisions such as moving and buying cars. This was common where the man earned more than the woman. The husbands career also took priority when deciding to get a new house for a new job.

Family finances and money managements - growing individualisation in couples finances where both have paid jobs with separate bank accounts and so agree on paying for different things. This represents a shift to greater equality. However, if women work part time or do not work, they may disadvantaged as men would have more spending power as they earn more.
