What is universality?
Conclusions drawn can be applied to everyone, regardless of time or culture
What is gender bias?
Treating an individual/group different to others. A theory or research may not represent the behaviour of men or women
What is alpha bias?
exaggerates the differences between men and women. heighten the value of women or devalue
e.g sociobiological theory, sexual promiscuity in males genetically determined, women, ‘going against their nature’ (alpha)
What is beta bias?
ignores/minimises the difference differences between men & women. female pps not included, assumes findings apply
e.g fight or flight, based on male animals (female hormones fluctuate) assumed to be a universal response
What is androcentrism?
