Q
What does the thinness of the ocean crust imply?
A
The upper surface of the oceanic crust will topographically always be much lower than that of the continental crust, and hence be amenable to hosting deep oceans
It is mechanically easier to subduct oceanic lithosphere beneath continental lithosphere, especially as oceanic lithosphere is denser than continental lithosphere.
