ISOMERISM Flashcards
What is chiral?
Non superimposabable, non identical, mirror image called enantiomer.
Chiral compound are called optical active
ISOMER
Same compound molecule but different connectivity
ACHIRAL
A compound have mirror image but identical
RACEMIC MIXTURE
A 50/ 50 mixtures of enantiomer and optical inactive
What is MESO GROUPD?
Is achievable but have chiral centre, 4 different GROUPD attach to carbon
CONSTITUTIONAL ISOMERS
Same compound molecules but different connectivity
STEREOISOMERS
Different in stereocenter even the same connectivity
They are called enantiomer(R,S)
How many stereoisomers if we have 2 stereocenter?
4
How we Rank the atom from stereocenter?
By their atomic number. Larger is higher priority
Trick for configuration
Dash is always hydrogen -number 4
Wedge is on largest group-1
Switch the answer if the dash or wedge not on the right priority
