What type of coastline is the Isle of Arran?
A
It is an example of an emergent coastline where post glacial adjustment is causing sea levels to fall, exposing landforms from a previous sea level.

Emerging landforms can include?
A
Wave-cut notches, caves, arches and other landforms formed by previous marine erosion.

What happens to the landforms that are now above high tide?
A
They stop changing due to marine erosion and become known as relic beaches and fossil cliffs.

What is special about the Isle of Arran?
A
They have a raised beach 5m above current sea levels located north of Drumadoon.
They also have 3 levels of raised beaches produced at different levels of post glacial adjustment.
