What is the Sharia?

A

Provides the rules Muslims must obey and diced their behavior it. It dictates diet,clothing, child bearing, personal hygiene and all religious practices. It also includes laws to control and regulate society. It is Islamic law and the law of most countries of the Middle East.

A

The most serious crimes. Include murder, theft robbery, damaging another person’s reputation, drinking alcohol and deserting the faith. The Qadi has no flexibility in deciding the punishments for these crimes but the standard for proof of guilt is high

Crimes of retaliation.
The victim or victims family choose the punishment.
It’s based on the principle of eye for an eye but many Muslims believe it is better to forgive.
Families can ask for Diya or community can pay
